1 Hernando Villa was brother to Rosa and Luisa Villa. Rosa and Luisa were informants who sang a number of pieces for the Lummis recordings. Hernando was also a commercial artist, and drew the picture of Francisco Amate featured at loscalifornios.info.

2 Rosendo Uruchurtu also sang pieces for Charles Lummis’ cylinder recordings in 1904, and accompanied Manuela García on a number of those recordings. Find a picture of him at loscalifornios.info/#uruchurtu.

3 Eleanor Hague also wrote several music books about californio and Spanish-language music in the Americas. She worked with Lummis’ cylinder recordings, and published some of her transcriptions of those recordings. Since she was here participating in this event that included some of the Lummis informants, she would have had the opportunity to work directly with those informants in deciphering the recordings. Find further information about Ms. Hague’s work at loscalifornios.info/#Hague.

4 Rosa and Luisa Villa recorded a number of songs for Charles Lummis in 1904. Find pictures of them and their family (including their brother, Hernando) at loscalifornios.info/#villa.
